Flying Ant Infestations in Stretford, Urmston and Flixton.

Flying ants are the scourge of many folk in summertime leaving many people to dread the summer and the annual flying ants invasion which they realise the summer will bring

Only the unfortunate people who have suffered it will appreciate the true nature of flying ants in their own homes.

Having an infestation of basic wingless ants is bad enough but when they enter their annual mating phase the situation can become dreadful.

Ants regularly form colonies in the sub-floor areas and in the wall cavities of our dwellings and these colonies will continue for many years to come if left untreated and become progressively more annoying each year.

Our homes are warm and dry and make the ideal places for a thriving ant colony; even solid asphalt floor is not a hindrance to an ant.

Our home heating systems maintains their metabolism even in the winter months and my earliest ant treatment was on my birthday, which falls in January!

Ants prefer a sandy soil and there are many areas in Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester which have more ant infestations than most others, Southport, Blackpool, Bolton, Sale & Altrincham come to mind as regular ant properties.

Unfortunately it is when they are in their mating time that they are most troublesome. Here in Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester this often is pretty regularly around the third or fourth week in July.

Ants mate on the wing and sometime around mid-summer the colony produces winged immature Queens and winged males which in nature would fly off and mate in the air. Many thousands of these flying ants are produced per colony and nests tend to time their production so that they mate with ants from neighbouring.

Usually this process starts after a few of days of hot, dry weather and will often continue for about seven to ten although smaller releases will carry on throughout most of the summer.

Unfortunately when the colony is built under the floor of the property the results can be devastating, literally thousands of winged ants are released into the lower rooms, collecting on windows as they make for the light.

This can be very upsetting for some people leading to extreme emotional distress to the level that people learn to loath the summertime and have actually sold their house to avoid the plague of ants which they know will inevitably come each summer.

The wet summers of the last three years has meant that ant problems were down on earlier but ants apparently have a way of catching up and 2010 looks set to be a particularly good year for them.

Many people who have this problem attempt for DIY solutions with potions from DIY stores etc but mostly these efforts do not work as they are not getting to the heart of the matter which is the nest itself, hidden away safely in the cavity wall or under the floor.

Luckily for many people the answer.

At Harrier Pest Prevention (subject to site survey) we are able to cure this problem and give an extendable 3 year guarantee.

The process which is done mainly from the outside of the dwelling, is perfectly safe for animals and children and leaves no smell, involves drilling little holes into the cavity walls of the property, not unlike a damp-proof course injection and blowing an insecticidal powder into the cavity wall under pressure.

This forms an impenetrable barrier over which the ants cannot move and together with a precautionary internal spray treatment (if deemed necessary) will slowly bring the infestation to its end.

The holes, which are only 8mm in diameter remain open so it is an easy matter of topping up the cavities every 3 to extend the life of the guarantee in 3 year periods.

This procedure is best carried out in the early spring however it can be done all year round.

As a very limited time offer before our busy period begins we are offering 25 percent off the normalstandard price until May 30 2010. Whilst we usually cover the whole of Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, we are able to venture further afield but this will be reflected in the cost.
